Forms and Legals
As part of the marriage process you’ll need to sign several items of paperwork and provide some information before the paperwork can be completed and provided to the relevant authorities.
As soon as you’ve settled on a celebrant you’ll be asked to complete a NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage). You can download a NOIM form here if you would like to see one.
Your celebrant will discuss the form with you and fill out all the relevant sections. You can download a copy of the form here to see what kind of questions you’ll have to answer. Rather than fill it out beforehand, it’s best to leave it to your celebrant to complete because they’ll need to be responsible for it and ensuring every little detail is correct.
Your celebrant will need to see your birth certificate when filling out this form, and if you’ve been married before, they’ll ask to see documents confirming that marriage or marriages have ceased.
Generally before arranging your first meeting to complete the NOIM and discuss your ceremony, your celebrant will ask you a few questions and let you know what paperwork to bring with you to the meeting.
If you would like to see what your final marriage certificate might look like, you can do so here.
